Our School
St. Michael’s is a busy, friendly and supportive school with over 360 children on roll. We have high expectations of our staff and offer continuous professional development so that each individual can develop their role to the best of their skills and abilities. We are looking for a team member join our wonderful office team. The role is Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:00 term time only.
Main purpose
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for supporting with the administrative processes within our school. They will act as the initial point of contact for parents, visitors and other stakeholders so will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision and ethos of the school in all interactions.
Responsibilities include
- Managing the administration process for all school trips/clubs/sporting events
- Ensuring that the school website meets statutory requirements and is always up-to-date
- Creating and distributing online and offline communications to parents, staff and governors (weekly information bulletin and fortnightly newsletter)
- Taking the lead role in increasing parental engagement across the school
- Ensuring the safeguarding of our pupils through checking visitors to the school
- Answering general enquiries on the phone and in person
- Providing welfare support to the children including administering First Aid and notifying parents when children are ill
Essential skills
- Experience of working in an administration role (school based experience is not essential but would be desirable)
- Confidence in dealing with a diverse range of people including teachers, parents, visitors, contractors etc.
- Undertake general administrative duties
- A willingness to adapt and learn on the job
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
