After School Club Deputy Leader

Job Introduction

THIS IS A BRAND NEW ROLE!

We have taken on the after school club from an external provider and have established a calm, kind and creative space for children to be cared for after school. We have themed weeks, someone who cooks fresh supper for them each evening and another person on hand to help with the initial few hours after school when it’s busiest.

The club is led by our headteacher and you would take a vital role of leading provision on a practical day by day basis, planning and shopping alongside the headteacher with developing autonomy as you settle into the role.

Our sessions typically involve snack, outdoor play, time for homework to be completed or reading to be done as well as creative down time.  So far this term, we’ve had Roald Dahl wacky experiments, baking and cooking linked to our theme, construction and film nights.  The possibilities are endless!

Ultimately, we’d like you to….

Be proactive – we want you to think on your feet, take direction but be independent with it and take an active role in the life of the class and school.

Be creative – we want someone who has great ideas and will listen to and incorporate the children’s ideas into the planning and delivery so that it’s engaging and fun.

Have high expectations – we set the bar high for our children in both their learning and their behaviour.   We need you to do the same.   Kindness with boundaries!

We want you to care about our children; they get one chance at school and their early years are so crucial to getting this right for life.  We want you to be motivated by their success, know that they learn when memorable experiences are created on a daily basis and need someone who has clear boundaries but is kind and caring.

The desire to work hard is fundamental; you get from your job what you put into it and we want someone who will take a full and active part in school life within and outside the designated working hours;

We reserve the right to interview candidates at a mutually convenient time as applications arrive.  Final deadline for the post is 5pm on Monday 13th Oct
