Job Introduction
Saxon Wood is a small special school for children with a range of additional needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. We have 44 children on roll with a high staff ratio of 27 class-based staff. We are committed to encouraging independence and enthusiasm for learning. We are on an exciting journey of improvement with the vision to provide an excellent education and provision that enables every child to achieve the very best outcomes. Our successful Ofsted Inspection in May 2023, recognised the high expectations we have for all pupils. This was validated when we were graded Good, with Outstanding for behaviour and attitudes.
We are seeking to expand our Senior Leadership Team, which currently consists of the Headteacher, an Assistant Headteacher and the School Business Manager. We are looking to appoint an additional Assistant Headteacher to play a crucial role in driving forward the school's vision, supporting staff development, ensuring high standards are evident across the curriculum and has a clear understanding of how children with SEND learn.
Key responsibilities:
Teaching and learning
Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching practices, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the school
Staff development
Provide professional development opportunities and support for teachers to enhance their pedagogical knowledge.
Curriculum development
Contribute towards designing, implementing and evaluating a broad and balanced and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils.
Leadership
Support the head teacher and another senior leader to drive the school's vision and school improvement goals
