The Headteacher and Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and aspiring leader with proven expertise in inclusion to take on the role of Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion/SENDCo). This is a key leadership position and we are looking for someone who can inspire others, drive high-quality provision for children with SEND and contribute strategically to raising standards across the school, ensuring every pupil achieves their best possible outcomes.
The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner with the motivation, vision and interpersonal skills to lead and develop inclusive practice across the school. They will work directly with children with SEND and their families, while supporting and coaching staff to deliver effective provision in the classroom. Key responsibilities will include leading annual reviews, managing the SEND register, liaising with external agencies and overseeing the administration of SEND provision.
This is a non-class-based post, but the successful candidate must be prepared to teach where needed and may be asked to take responsibility for a class in the future. The role includes dedicated support from their own personal assistant (PA).
You will be:
- Amazing with children
- An experienced practitioner who is fully conversant with the Code of Practice and has an understanding of the requirements
- Either SENDCo accredited or in the process of gaining accreditation
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of a good range of programmes and interventions; has good communication skills and is sensitive to the needs of the children and their parents
- Responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND
- Capable to manage a large enthusiastic team of Learning Coaches
- Able to support the leadership team in determining the strategic development of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) policy and provision
- Skilled in providing professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
- Adept in taking the responsibility to cover classes where required
- Enthusiastic and energetic and have the ability to work dynamically with the whole team to help drive our happy and successful school on our journey
- Genuinely passionate about education and have a ‘can do’ attitude
