Assistant Site Manager

Job Introduction

Our school motto is ‘Growing Together.’ Are you looking for an opportunity to help manage a fantastic school site, taking pride in your work, engaging with professional development and working in a supportive and stimulating environment?

The Governors at St. Bede Church of England Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and practical assistant site manager to join our happy and hardworking team. The new post holder will work alongside our experienced senior site manager who will help with training and who will take the lead on specific aspects of the role.

We're looking for a hands-on Site Manager who thrives on variety and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. If you're someone who takes pride in keeping grounds immaculate, enjoys working outdoors in all weathers, and can switch seamlessly between practical tasks and online admin, we want to hear from you.

This role is perfect for a true multi-skilled individual- one minute you might be assembling furniture, the next sweeping leaves, jet washing, cleaning facilities, or responding to ad hoc requests with a can-do attitude. You'll be a vital part of our team, keeping everything running smoothly, ensuring we fully comply to Health and Safety regulations, and pitching in wherever needed.

The post is for 15 hours per week (7a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday to Friday.) Additional hours may be required by mutual agreement to take account of the changing needs of the school.  There may be an opportunity to take on additional hours in the afternoon in a cleaning capacity, or at other times to reflect the seasons and needs of the school, if this is of interest.

Basic computing, literacy and numeracy skills are essential. (Support and training can be provided.) The role will include occasional working at heights and moving and handling of objects. Training will be provided.

We are looking for a site manager who will:

  • Ensure the security of the school buildings and site, liaising with staff, contractors and the local authority as appropriate.
  • Oversee and engage with the cleaning and maintenance of the site.
  • Undertake minor repairs, maintenance and decorating.
  • Manage contractors as appropriate.
  • Undertake checks and maintain records to meet statutory health and safety requirements e.g. COSHH, writing and reviewing risk assessments and testing fire alarms etc.
  • Liaise with the SLT about lettings and wider use of the site, working flexibly to meet the needs of the children and the school.
  • Have a key holder responsibility and be prepared to attend out of hours emergency call outs.
  • Be a keen team player, flexible and resilient with good communication skills.
  • Take pride in their work and manage their workload through being self-motivated, observant and proactive.

In return we can offer:

  • A friendly, welcoming and inclusive school with a strong Christian ethos.
  • Excellent working environment with good resources.
  • A supportive and motivated leadership and staff team.
  • A fantastic community to work within and impact directly
  • The opportunity for continued professional development.
