Job/Person Summary
We are looking to appoint a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our school as a Caretaker. This is an important role within our school community, and we are seeking someone who has a broad range of practical skills and a positive approach to maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring that our site is kept clean, secure and in good repair. We are looking for someone who is proactive, takes pride in their work and is committed to upholding high standards across the school grounds and buildings. The role includes a variety of duties such as carrying out daily checks, organising minor repairs, supporting with maintenance tasks, overseeing contractors when required, and helping to ensure that the site remains tidy, safe and fully functional at all times.
This position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, practical problem solving and active, outdoor responsibilities throughout the year. The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate a willingness to adapt, respond to the needs of the school and work collaboratively as part of a friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Manage the school site, grounds and buildings
- Take responsibility for locking/unlocking daily and securing the site
- Take responsibility for managing key aspects of Health and Safety, including COSHH, legionella and asbestos awareness
- Complete regular health and safety checks and keep all records up to date
- Arrange and liaise with contractors on site
- Undertake a range of minor repairs, maintenance and decorating
- Work in a flexible manner for the needs of the children and the school
- Take pride in ensuring our school remains clean and welcoming at all times, liaising with the cleaning team and overseeing their work to maintain consistently high standards
- Manage stock ordering and cleaning supplies
- Show initiative and be proactive, acting as a positive and professional representative of our school community
