Merton Junior School is looking for a dedicated Year 6 Cover Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team, working 3 or 4 days a week with our fantastic Year 6 pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who understands the importance of the Year 6 journey and is passionate about ensuring that children leave primary school feeling confident, successful and ready for their next chapter.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who can hit the ground running and make a positive impact on our Year 6 pupils.
We are looking for someone who has:
- High expectations of all pupils, believing that every child can achieve and succeed;
- Strong and secure subject knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum, including the ability to challenge and support pupils effectively;
- A strong understanding of assessment for learning, using assessment effectively to identify gaps, respond to pupils' needs and move learning forward;
- The ability to deliver engaging, purposeful and challenging lessons using planning provided by our experienced teaching team;
- A positive and consistent approach to behaviour management, creating a calm, respectful and purposeful learning environment;
- A genuine passion for working with Year 6 children and supporting them through an important stage in their education;
- The ability to quickly build positive relationships with pupils and become a valued member of our team.
