Class Teacher - Full Time

Job Introduction

Full Time Teacher – St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School

St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and creative Class Teacher to join our wonderful school community.

We welcome applications from teachers at all stages of their career who share our commitment to providing an excellent education for every child. KS1 experience is desirable, but not essential for the right person.

All applicants will be considered in line with our commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.

St John the Baptist is a warm, caring and vibrant school with a strong sense of community and a clear Christian ethos. Our children are well‑behaved, eager to learn and a joy to teach. We offer a rich, engaging curriculum that brings learning to life, supported by recently refurbished classrooms and beautiful outdoor spaces that inspire curiosity and creativity.

We are proud to be a supportive, forward‑thinking school where staff are valued, encouraged and trusted. New ideas are welcomed, and professional development is actively supported.

We are looking for a teacher who will bring energy, passion and fresh ideas to our team, and who is committed to making a lasting difference to the lives of our children.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Sets and maintains high expectations for behaviour and learning
  • Is committed to ensuring children are happy, safe and thriving in their care
  • Delivers engaging, inspiring lessons that excite and motivate pupils
  • Communicates effectively with pupils, families and colleagues
  • Is flexible, resilient and adaptable in a dynamic school environment
  • Contributes positively to the wider life of the school, including clubs and events
  • Believes in the potential of every child and is committed to helping all children succeed

We believe that being the right fit for our team is about more than qualifications - it’s about passion, dedication and the personal qualities that truly make a difference.

As a Church of England school, we expect candidates to demonstrate a positive commitment to our Christian values of courage, compassion and creativity. You do not need to be a practising Christian, but you must be willing to support and uphold our school’s ethos as part of our community.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

We do not currently use AI tools in our recruitment processes; however, we understand that applicants may choose to use them when preparing their application.

If you do, please keep in mind:

  • AI-generated responses can be generic and may not reflect your true skills, experience, or personality
  • Overuse of AI may make your application feel less personal or engaged
  • All information submitted must be accurate and genuinely represent your own voice
  • Relying too heavily on AI may make it harder to communicate confidently and authentically during interviews

Safer Recruitment Statement

St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks and other relevant employment checks.
