Clerk to the Governors

Job Introduction

This post is subject to successfully completing a 3 month probationary period and initially for a year from date of commencement, to be reviewed annually thereafter.

Job Purpose and duties:

  • To attend and minute the Local Governing Body meeting (3 times per year - evenings)
  • To attend and minute committee meetings: Health and Safety; Staffing, Personnel and Pupil Welfare; Curriculum; Admissions (3 times per year – usually daytime)
  • To circulate agendas, minutes, policies and other related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • To be aware of School Governance and advise as necessary (training can be provided)
  • Keep accurate attendance records of all meetings.
  • To administer Governor recruitment when necessary.
  • Support the Catholic Ethos of the school.
  • Keep files/paperwork ensuring that all documents are signed and current.
  • To timetable local meetings to fit in with the Academy Trusts schedule of meetings.

Person Specification:

  • Able to work under your own initiative and manage deadlines
  • Ability to remain impartial and confidential at all times
  • Able to comply with Data Protection and GDPR legislation

 Corporate and statutory initiatives:

  •  Maintain an awareness of school, national and statutory policies and requirements and apply these in the workplace.
  • Adhere to school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures and policies.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.  Access to school photocopying, printing, stationery and other support resources including the use of a Laptop will be provided.
