Job Introduction
We are looking for dedicated people to join Hiltingbury Junior School board of governors.
A school governor ensures that:
- the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined
- the headteacher effectively drives the educational performance of the school
- the school’s financial resources are used efficiently
We meet at the school once a term for full board meetings and each governor sits on a committee (to suit skills and experience) which also meet once a term. We meet at 8am and 5pm depending on the meeting and governors do make monitoring visits to the school during school hours.
To be a school governor you do not need a background in education – we value a diverse range of skills and interests.
We offer training to develop and enhance your skills, and you will be part of a supportive and pro-active team of volunteers working to deliver the best possible education for children in our community.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, please call our school office and speak with our Business Manager Mrs Batten and we can arrange a call with our Chair of Governors.
The role of school governor is subject to a DBS check.
