Job Introduction
We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated Cover Team. It is an exciting time to join The Hamble School during a period of rapid improvement. Our vision ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ encapsulates the work we do every day. Our intake numbers are increasing, and we currently have 1,090 students on roll. In March 2025, we were graded ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted, and we are continuing to ensure that we provide the very best education for all our students.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people, preferably within an educational setting and a genuine commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential. Working closely with the Cover Manager as part of our Cover Team, the main responsibility of the role is to supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set and continue to learn in a positive, purposeful and well-managed environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young people and making a positive contribution to their educational experience. It is particularly suited to those considering a future career in teaching, graduates seeking valuable classroom experience, individuals looking to consolidate their experience following teacher training, retired teachers, or those returning to education after a career break.
The successful candidate must be educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) and have achieved Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics. Strong IT skills would also be advantageous. Applicants should be able to demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, initiative, good time management and patience, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
In return, we can offer you:
- A positive and supportive working environment focused on staff wellbeing, student welfare, progress and high standards of achievement and behaviour.
- Opportunities to further develop your skills and expertise.
- Personal career development to support your professional ambitions.
- A well-equipped campus with excellent gym and swimming facilities operated by Everyone Active, available to staff free of charge, together with discounted membership rates and preferential rates for family members.
- The opportunity to apply for discounted childcare places at Hamble Early Years Centre, located adjacent to the school.
- Free on-site parking and excellent local public transport links (bus and rail).
