Cover Teacher 2 days per week

Job Introduction

Temporary / Fixed-Term 2 Days per Week (1 Day EYFS & 1 Day KS2)

Required for September 2026

Are you a versatile educator looking for a unique and varied role?

Under new leadership and embarking on an exciting journey of transformation, Sherborne St John C of E Primary is looking for an adaptable and inspiring Cover Teacher to join our team. This is a temporary role designed to provide high-quality consistency across two very different but equally vital areas of our school: one day in Early Years (EYFS) and one day in Key Stage 2 (KS2).

We are a progressive, inclusive and welcoming small school that blends a traditional village feel with a forward-thinking approach. If you thrive on variety and want to help shape the identity of a school on the move, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Adaptable and Versatile: Equally comfortable facilitating play-based learning in Early Years as you are delivering a rigorous and challenging curriculum in KS2.
  • An Outstanding Practitioner: Capable of stepping into different environments and immediately creating a unique, inclusive, and purposeful learning space.
  • A Forward-Thinker: Someone who values progressive education and understands how to engage children at different developmental stages.
  • Relationship-Driven: A calm, positive communicator who can quickly build rapport with pupils, staff and parents across the whole school.
  • Highly Organised: Able to manage the transition between year groups efficiently while maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Positive and Relational: Committed to high expectations of behaviour through a supportive, restorative approach.
  • Flexible: Equipped with a good sense of humour and the ability to "hit the ground running" in a dynamic school environment.

In return, we can offer:

  • A highly supportive staff team and dedicated support staff who will help you settle into both key stages.
  • A genuine focus on your professional development (CPD), with the chance to gain experience across the full primary age range.
  • A welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where your flexibility and well-being are truly valued.
  • The chance to be part of a "journey" school during a pivotal time of transformation.
  • Highly motivated and well-behaved children who are eager to learn.
