Berrywood Primary School
Leadership Scale (L9 – L13)
Full Time | Permanent
Berrywood Primary School is a thriving, large primary school at the heart of its community, serving over 600 pupils. Rooted in The Berrywood Way — ambition, integrity and respect — our school is shaped by a clear moral purpose: to provide a high-quality education that develops the whole child.
Our provision for pupils’ personal development and wellbeing is a genuine strength. Leaders are determined to broaden pupils’ horizons and fully prepare them for life beyond the school gates. This drive is evident in our deeply embedded personal development curriculum, our strong safeguarding culture where pupils feel safe and thrive, and our rich extra-curricular offer spanning competitive sport, performing arts, pupil leadership and outdoor learning.
Berrywood is distinctive. Our ‘school within a garden’ ethos provides rich first-hand experiences and fosters sustainability, responsibility and pride. Subject integrity underpins our ambitious curriculum, while a culture of precision and consistency ensures high expectations in every classroom. Pupils are proud ambassadors who speak enthusiastically about their school and the opportunities it offers.
We are now seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Headteacher to join our senior leadership team. This is a substantive post with responsibility for curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment and standards, staff appraisal, personal development and pupil attendance, and the delivery of school improvement priorities.
This role requires an established senior leader who can operate confidently within a large and complex primary setting. You will bring a strong track record of raising standards across multiple year groups, a deep understanding of curriculum design and implementation, and the ability to use assessment intelligently to secure strong outcomes for all pupils. You will value inclusive practice, understand the importance of reducing disadvantage gaps, and believe that academic excellence and character development go hand in hand.
At Berrywood, collaborative leadership is fueled through the combination of determined self-efficacy and values-led reflection. Governors provide knowledgeable support and challenge, and staff are proud members of the Berrywood team. There is a long-established 0culture of professional development and leadership growth, as well as an unwavering commitment to doing what is right for our pupils. This is an amazing opportunity for an ambitious and principled leader to contribute meaningfully to the next phase of Berrywood’s development.
