Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA)

Job Introduction

About the Role:

As our ESLA, you will:

  • Work closely with the SENO to identify pupils who would benefit from targeted emotional support.

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to help pupils develop emotional literacy, self-regulation, and social skills.

  • Be based in The HIVE – our dedicated wellbeing hub designed to provide a safe, calming space for reflection and support.

  • Support the delivery of nurture-based activities in our school’s Nurture Room, fostering resilience, trust, and positive relationships.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting regularly to the SENO and wider SEND team.

  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external agencies where appropriate.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children with social, emotional, or mental health needs.

  • Holds an ESLA qualification or equivalent training (or is willing to undertake training).

  • Is calm, patient, and empathetic, with excellent communication skills.

  • Is passionate about inclusion and understands trauma-informed and nurture-based approaches.

  • Can work collaboratively as part of a team but also use their initiative.
