Employee Support and Finance Assistant

Required from 1 November 2026

37 hours per week, 7am – 3pm Mon- Thurs and 7am – 2.30pm Friday, term time only

Actual Salary - £22,255

  

This is an opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic, and energetic person to undertake this fast paced role at our busy school.


Main duties will include:

Cover Management

  • Coordinate daily cover arrangements for teaching and support staff absences.
  • Arrange and communicate cover schedules to staff in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff absence, cover allocation and supply staff usage.
  • Liaise with external supply agencies when required.
  • Monitor cover costs and provide reports for Employee Support and Business Manager.
  • Support the administration of staff leave requests and absence reporting procedures.
  • Manage, book and support staff training requests ensuring accurate records are kept and statutory training is complete.

Finance Administration

  • Process purchase orders, invoices and payments in accordance with school financial procedures.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and financial record keeping.
  • Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial databases.
  • Process income received by the school and ensure appropriate banking procedures are followed.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial processes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and respond to finance-related queries.

General Administration

  • Provide administrative support to the School Business Manager and Employee Support Team
  • Maintain confidential staff and financial records.
  • Produce reports, correspondence and other documentation as required.
  • Support reception and office functions during busy periods or staff absences.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, financial regulations and safeguarding requirements.

Experience in Microsoft Office is preferred, and knowledge of school-based systems such as SIMS would be desirable but not essential as full training will be available. We put staff wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and will provide a bespoke induction program and on the job training tailored to your needs.
