Job Introduction

We are seeking an exceptional, highly organised and forward-thinking School Business Manager to join our senior leadership team at our thriving three-form entry junior school in Lee-on-the-Solent. 

Our school is a popular and successful community school, recently recognised through a positive Ofsted inspection, where pupils achieve well and staff are committed to providing the very best educational experience. We are looking for a skilled professional who shares our ambition and can help drive the continued development of our school. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business professional to play a strategic role in shaping the future of the school whilst ensuring the effective management of finance, administration, premises, health and safety, and support services. The postholder will work closely with the Headteacher, Governors and wider leadership team to support the school's vision and long-term priorities.  

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will: 

  • Lead and manage the school's financial strategy, budget planning and financial monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, statutory requirements and school policies.
  • Oversee administration, HR processes, procurement and contracts.
  • Manage health and safety, site development, premises maintenance and risk management.
  • Lead and develop the administrative staff team and site manager.
  • Provide professional advice to the Headteacher and Governing Body.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency savings, income generation and service improvement.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and the long-term development of the school.

We are looking for someone who: 

 

  • Has significant experience in business, financial or operational management
  • Has strong budget management and financial planning skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Can think strategically while maintaining attention to operational detail.
  • Has experience of managing contracts, procurement and facilities.
  • Possesses strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Is proactive, solution-focused and able to work independently.
  • Ideally has experience within an educational setting, although applications from other sectors are welcomed
