Environmental Lead Instructor

Job Introduction

Help inspire the next generation of environmental champions and adventurous learners.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced and enthusiastic professional to lead the environmental learning provision at Runway's End Outdoor Centre.

As Hampshire County Council's first carbon-neutral site, Runway's End is at the forefront of developing innovative environmental education programmes that complement our established outdoor learning offer.

As Lead Environmental Educator, you will play a key role in delivering and developing environmental learning opportunities, supporting colleagues through training and mentoring, and helping bring an innovative blended environmental learning platform to life.

What you’ll do:

You'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional environmental education and outdoor learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and create lasting memories. As we develop an exciting new environmental learning platform, you'll have the opportunity to shape its future direction and make a real impact on young people's understanding of the natural world.

Working primarily with upper Key Stage 2 pupils, while also supporting programmes for learners aged 4–18, you'll lead, inspire and develop a team of instructors and tutors through hands-on teaching, mentoring and environmental education training.

You'll be at the forefront of enhancing and expanding our environmental education offer, creating innovative, engaging and relevant learning experiences that align with our environmental ambitions and ensure every visit to Runway's End is inspiring, memorable and meaningful.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for an inspirational educator with a background in environmental studies and experience delivering high-quality learning experiences. Experience in outdoor education is desirable but not essential. Most importantly, you will be passionate about outdoor and environmental education and committed to inspiring children and young people to connect with and care for the natural world.

Why join us?

  • Comprehensive induction programme with all necessary training.
  • Great satisfaction from supporting people to get the most out of their stay.
  • Commitment to personal development.

We offer a flexible, motivating, and inclusive workplace, where talent is truly recognised and developed. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of and where you are empowered to be your best and believe in creating a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.

To find out more about what we can offer you in return, please see our benefits package.
