Job Introduction
Hazel Wood Infant School are looking to appoint an experienced, caring, empathetic and enthusiastic 1-1 SEND Support Assistant to support a child starting in Year R with Autism Spectrum Condition and Speech, Language and Communication needs.

The post is a fixed term contract and is linked to specific pupil funding. Position starts September 2026. Interviews to be held 29th June 2026.
The role would entail:
- Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Support and encourage children’s learning and development under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
- Providing guidance to develop in all areas and working on the targets in their Education Health Care Plan
- Support the team with observations and contribute to the child's learning journey
- Encourage engagement in learning to help improve outcomes
- Build positive, nurturing relationships to help overcome barriers to learning
- Carry out other duties reasonably allocated within the remit of the role
The person we are looking for will:
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and the importance of confidentiality
- Have experience working with children with Special Needs
- Be calm, patient, resilient and kind
- Be reliable, organised and able to use initiative when appropriate
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Be committed to working as part of a team
- Ensure the safety and welfare of children at all times
