Learning Support Assistant (with Midday Supervisory Assistant role)

Job Introduction

St Martin’s is a small village school consisting of 4 classes located in the beautiful village of East End, only 5 miles from Newbury.  We are incredibly proud of our strong Christian ethos and special family atmosphere which permeates all that we do in our school. The quality of relationships between staff, children, governors and parents at the school is excellent and part of what makes our school so special. We are proud that at our most recent Ofsted (Nov 2023), our children's behaviour was noted as 'exemplary'; our children come to school focused and ready to learn. We recommend a visit to the school to fully experience our calm, settled classrooms and lovely grounds within an outstanding rural location.

St Martin’s is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant. This role is initially to support children 1:1/1:2 with their learning needs and emotional development. However, dependent on experience, there may be some capacity for this to be more of a classroom LSA role. The successful candidate will work 1:1/1:2 within the class setting, in order to support the needs of children and to help them thrive and experience success personally, socially and academically.

The successful candidate will:

•    be passionate about working with children and want to make a significant difference to children;

•    truly believe in inclusion and that all children can succeed in school and be resilient, focused on finding solutions and with a ‘can do’ attitude;

•    have a good understanding of safeguarding and always put the needs of the children first;

•    have a calm, positive and consistent manner;

•    be patient, cheerful and enthusiastic;

•    support positive playtimes and lunchtimes as a midday supervisor;

•    understand the importance of confidentiality in a school and maintain high levels of confidentiality;

•    be able to administer first aid and meet the medical needs of the children;

•    support, maintain and nurture our caring Christian community and ethos.

In return, we can offer you:

•    the opportunity to work with fantastic children who behave well and enjoy school;

•    the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and their families,

•    a strong, friendly school team, who will support you,

•    a supportive local and parent/carer community who are fully committed to the school,

•    the opportunity to further develop your career.

We really do recommend a visit to see our wonderful school in action, so please do get in touch to arrange a visit and to meet with the headteacher. We look forward to receiving your application.

Candidates please be aware that the closing date for applications is on the 3rd July 2026, however prompt applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to close this vacancy if sufficient applications have been received.

For an application pack and to apply please contact the school office on adminoffice@st-martins.hants.sch.uk.
