Job Introduction

Are you a business manager with a difference – or have the potential to be one – and have integrity, tenacity and empathy?  This could be the perfect opportunity for you. Join our Federation family and be part of our exciting journey.

The Dever Valley Federation consists of two Church of England schools. Both Barton Stacey and Micheldever CE Primary Schools are two small primary schools at the heart of two beautiful Hampshire villages. As small schools we have a warm, friendly, family-feel that our families value. We know our children extremely well and treat them with respect as unique individuals. We are able to provide our children and staff with a caring and nurturing environment and our Christian values of Love, Trust, Hope and Forgiveness are intrinsic to daily life in our schools.

Due to the retirement of the current Business Manager, The Dever Valley Federation is looking to appoint from September 2025 an exceptional Federation Business Manager to join our caring, supportive and dedicated team. The successful candidate will undertake a leadership role, providing strategic and professional advice to the Senior Leadership Team and Governors and managing two administration and site teams across both schools.

You may be an experienced School Business Manager looking for a new challenge, or you may be experienced within office environments and looking to take the next step in your career. For the right candidate there is also the potential to apply to undertake a fully-funded degree Apprenticeship for School Business Managers.

This pivotal role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils, their families and the operational success of the Federation.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies
  • A calm positive and professional conduct, especially under pressure and commitment to confidentiality
  • Able to maximise resources and manage them effectively
  • A forward-thinking approach, with a commitment to driving continual school improvement
  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills , with the ability to make a strategic contribution to the Federation
  • Proven experience in business, finance, administration and resource management
  • Strong skills in the ability to set, manage  and monitor budgets
  • Ideally knowledge of HR, safeguarding and Health and safety
  • Confidence and initiative in establishing and maintaining administrative systems in busy school environments

The post is term time plus one week (40 weeks), 35 hours a week, 5 days a week.

Salary: Hampshire County Council Grade F (FTE £39,382 - £43,670 dependent on experience)

Contract type: Permanent – Full time

Our schools are friendly, vibrant and exciting places to be. We strive for the best for our pupils and are rewarded daily by what they achieve.
