Job/Person Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Business Manager to join the Four Lanes Federation and play a crucial role in our strategic and operational leadership.

The Business Manager will work closely with the Executive Headteacher and be a part of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for assisting with the strategic vision and day to day operations relating to, Budget, Finance, Human Resources, Premises, Health and Safety and Communication.   

The successful candidate will be highly efficient and organised. They will lead on business operations, managing our contracted arrangements and leading a team of administrators and site staff across both our schools.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in administration and be able to run a well-organised office. The post holder must have good interpersonal skills. Candidates will need to have a professional attitude and be able to communicate and relate easily with a range of stakeholders, whilst always maintaining discretion and confidentiality. They will have experience in leading a successful office team and working alongside Senior Leaders. 

The Federation Business Manager will play a key strategic role in linking strong financial management to the Federation improvement planning process and ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders. These strengths will enable us to best meet the needs of all our learners and strive for excellence in standards of education and care. You will be required to ensure statutory policies are followed, including around safer recruitment, and help to plan and implement initiatives, considering financial and resource limitations. There will also be opportunity to project manage. 

This person will be a well-qualified and experienced manager in administration. Candidates should hold a relevant NCSL School Business Management, or equivalent, qualification. They should have previous experience in a school setting.

This is a varied role with a broad range of responsibilities as part of our friendly team. We are looking for someone who is motivated to do their best for our community and its children.

- Have proven experience in financial management, budget setting and control, including managing relevant processes and procedures;

- Will actively ensure the budget, Service Level Agreements and any contracts to ensure value for money is achieved through support of our admin officers;

- Is able to generate income and manage capital funds;

- Has good knowledge of site management, implementation of Health and Safety legislation, Human Resources and GDPR;

- Can think strategically and creatively;

- Is flexible, resilient and able to prioritise tasks; 

- Has relevant professional or academic qualifications;

- Has excellent communication skills;

- Is passionate about working in a school environment and contributing to the achievement of the Federation vision and aims.
