Job/Person Summary             

 

Hambledon Primary School is a warm, nurturing primary school situated in the heart of our rural village community. We are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated, and organised Finance Officer to join our small, friendly office team.

 

This pivotal role ensures our school remains financially secure, compliant, and well-resourced. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Governing Body to directly support our pupils' learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget Monitoring: Assist the Headteacher in preparing, managing, and tracking the annual school budget.
  • Financial Processing: Manage day-to-day transactions including purchase orders, invoicing, banking, and petty cash.
  • Reconciliations: Maintain accurate records on local authority systems (e.g., SAP/IBC, Tucasi) and reconcile bank statements.
  • Reporting: Prepare clear financial updates for senior leaders and Governors 
  • Best Value: Oversee purchasing and service contracts to guarantee cost-effectiveness and value for money.
  • Community Front-of-House: Work in the school reception, welcoming parents, visitors, and pupils with a friendly manner.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications: GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths is required; financial or bookkeeping training is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Experience managing finance operations, ideally using school management software (SAP,IBC, Tucasi, SIMs)
  • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and total commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Relational Skills: A calm, flexible nature with the ability to collaborate effectively in a tight-knit school community.
