The Governors of this friendly and successful school invite applications for the position of Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

 

Position: HLTA Teaching Assistant 

Contract/Hours: 31.67  hours per week, five days, term time only Permanent 8.40 am - 3.30 pm (part-time would be considered for the right candidate)

Salary range: Hampshire Grade D   

Start date:  5th January 2026

Closing date: 12th December 2025       

 

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our school “where children learn and grow in a happy, secure and nurturing environment” (Ofsted 2023). The role will include supporting children 1:1 as well as within small groups and classes. In addition, there will be a requirement to deliver whole class teaching under the direction of the class teacher on occasions. We are looking for someone with a holistic, nurturing approach focusing on children's education and their well-being.

 

The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and dedicated team. Part-time job share will be considered for the right candidate(s).

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • enjoys working with children as part of a staff team
  • is skilled in reducing barriers to enable individuals to access learning 
  • is skilled in supporting children who may have difficulty in regulating their behaviour  
  • has experience of whole class responsibility for teaching and learning
  • has a good understanding of how to support learning in the primary curriculum
  • can use their initiative
  • understands safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
  • is actively committed to the aims and ethos of our Catholic Christian school
  • will be part of our lunchtime supervision team.  

Ideally you will: 

  • hold or be working towards an HLTA or equivalent qualification
  • have a minimum of grade 4 GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent qualification 
  • have experience and a good understanding of how to support children with social and emotional needs 
  • be a flexible team player with excellent communication skills
  • have experience of working within a primary school
