Job/Person Summary

Hurstbourne Tarrant CE Primary School is a small and very popular Church of England village school that has 4 classes run in split-year groups. We have a well-established staff team who have been praised by SIAMs in a recent inspection.
Our school has been successfully led by our current Headteacher over the last 8 years ensuring we attained a Good Rating at Ofsted in 2025 and Good overall at our SIAMs in 2023. We are now looking forward to finding a new Headteacher who can join our team and lead us on the next steps of our journey. The school has a strong dedicated team, and is supported by a committed, active Governing Board, an amazing parent body and the wider community.
We want someone who:
- Puts children first, challenges and motivates them, and encourages each child to be excited about learning with a thirst for ‘hands on experiences’
- Will establish and sustain high quality teaching across all subjects and phases
- Has an open mind and is creative in their thinking and approach
- Can handle and lead change effectively
- Is a strong communicator
- Is outward looking and forward thinking
- Leads a strong, innovative team that constantly strives for excellence
- Listens, develops and delivers a vision for the school that everyone believes in
- Connects and develops strong relationships with parents
- Is SEND Focussed
- Has a sense of fun, and enjoys the respect of the children, staff and parents
We can offer you:
- Enthusiastic children who are kind, caring and keen to learn
- A well-established, dedicated staff team who puts our children first and motivates them to strive for excellence
- A wonderful and picturesque environment at the centre of village life
- A commitment to professional development
- A caring yet challenging governing body who will offer you support
- Biscuits and cakes in the staff room most days!
