Headteacher

Job Introduction

Job/Person summary

Merdon Junior School is a two form entry junior school situated in an attractive residential area of Chandlers Ford, which lies between Southampton and Winchester.  We are very proud of our school and what we stand for, and the Governors are delighted to be recruiting a new Headteacher, following the resignation of our long standing Headteacher.

Our vision is to provide our pupils with an outstanding curriculum and school experience that instils a lifelong love of learning and builds their confidence and self belief, so they can thrive now, and in the future.  We are looking for a Headteacher to build on the strong foundations already in place, and inspire and lead the school to realise its outstanding potential, and become the school of choice in a competitive area.

We see the relationship between school, home, and the local community as an important partnership and therefore clear communication, management and leadership skills will be critical in this role, as our new Headteacher leads a committed team through the next exciting chapters at Merdon Junior School.

The next Headteacher of Merdon Junior School will be…

An inspirational leader who has a proven track record of leading excellence in teaching and learning and a strong understanding of safeguarding culture.

Someone who has experience of leading a Junior or Primary School and shows confidence in strategic decision making and leading people through change.

Someone who looks beyond the curriculum to develop pupils into confident and capable individuals.

An excellent communicator with staff, parents, children, and community stakeholders, aiming to develop and promote the schools reputation.

Able to motivate and develop an inclusive culture where all staff are encouraged and trusted to make their own decisions and feel supported, to reach their full potential.

Be committed to our Merdon community, confidently making decisions in line with our vision, values, curriculum and budget expectations.

What Merdon Junior School can offer our next Headteacher….

A school where children are enthusiastic and engaged in their own learning journey.

A team of dedicated and experienced staff who are committed to providing an inclusive education experience for all pupils.

An engaged and supportive governing body.

An active PTA, supportive parents, and a local community who all desire the school to succeed.

Continued professional development and the opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their career in a friendly, child centred school situated within beautiful grounds.
