Headteacher

Job Introduction

After two successful years leading Sherborne St John Primary School and a period of maternity leave, our current headteacher has decided to resign to focus on family. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational headteacher to lead our school and dedicated staff forward after a period of change.

Sherborne St John is an excellent school with a strong Christian ethos and values of trust, forgiveness, and truth, but it is not a school to rest on its laurels. What we are looking for in our new Head is someone who recognises the many positives and will build on them and bring forward new ideas and experiences to challenge preconceptions and lead the school forward. Innovation encouraged and welcomed!

You will be leading a four-class village school with a very committed team where everyone is dedicated to providing the best education for our children. We have an engaged and active school community with strong support from our parents and governors, and we are proud of our child-centred approach to education.

Our vision is to see all our children achieve their full potential, enjoy their learning and be inspired by the experiences we provide. Our values, embodied by children and staff alike, enable us to build a secure and loving environment where everyone works together so that the whole school community can thrive.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader and inspirational communicator and agent for change within the school. They will engage the whole school community and be passionate about ensuring all children achieve their potential regardless of background, special educational needs, and disabilities.

A complete job description and person specification can be found in our headteacher information pack along with more information about our school.
