Maybe you’re a teacher who still loves being in the classroom but would like a role that gives an excellent work/life balance, without the additional pressures of the teaching role. Or you might be just finishing your teaching qualification but would like further time in which to develop your classroom practice. You could also be an existing HLTA looking for a new and exciting environment in which to further your career.
We are excited to be looking for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly, dedicated and supportive team. The role will involve working across the whole primary school from YR to Y6 to cover planned PPA, leadership release time and training, as well as providing on the day absence cover. You will be delivering lessons planned under the professional direction of a qualified teacher. At other times, you will be providing interventions to groups of pupils to support their learning. This makes for an exciting and varied timetable!
We can offer:
• Friendly and enthusiastic pupils who are keen to learn and succeed
• A supportive and friendly whole school team which feels like a family
• Full planning and resourcing provided by class teachers for lessons covered
• Regular training and support linked to the role
• A full induction programme to support you
• A four-day working week from Tuesday to Friday (two or three days per week will also be
considered, as this job is suitable for a job share)
Our ideal candidate will be someone who:
• has the ability to independently deliver lessons to the whole class which have been planned by the class teacher
• puts the children and safeguarding at the front and the centre of everything they do
• is reliable, resilient and an excellent team member
• can build positive relationships with staff and pupils
• has experience covering whole classes across the primary phases
• can demonstrate good subject knowledge in English and Maths (must hold GCSE or equivalent
passes at Grade C/Level 4 or above)
The staff at Swanmore Primary are incredibly supportive of one another and we really are like one big family! We care for our staff with comprehensive health and wellbeing support and a paid wellbeing day per year, which makes our school a wonderful place to be a part of.

Please call 01489 894555 or email adminoffice@swanmore-pri.hants.sch.uk to book a place or if none of the days are suitable, get in touch and we will be happy to arrange a suitable time for you. There is also lots of information and a virtual tour of the school on our website wwww.swanmoreprimary.org.uk which will give you an insight into what a special place our school is.
