Job/Person Summary
Rowner is a 2 form entry infant school set in the heart of Gosport. We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled HLTA to join our happy and supportive Rowner family. We are a small, but perfectly formed infant school with relationships at the heart of our practice. We are committed to creating and inclusive and nurturing learning environment for our children. We set high but realistic expectations for all and encourage everyone to discover the joy of learning. We believe that the children’s emotional wellbeing is as important as academic and believe this is a cornerstone for achievement.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on whole class responsibility within EYFS, Year 1, and Year 2, working closely with class teachers to foster independence and support children’s learning and development.
The role will involve:
- Covering teacher absences across Key Stage 1 (Year R - Year 2)
- Providing PPA cover (Planning, Preparation and Assessment time) for class teachers
- Delivering high-quality lessons and learning activities in line with teachers' planning
- Supporting pupils' learning and development across the curriculum
- Managing behaviour effectively to maintain a positive learning environment with a strong understanding of behaviour management as communication with strategies to maintain a calm and positive environment.
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress
- Understand that behaviour is a ‘communication of need’ and collaborate with staff to maintain high expectations and a calm, positive learning environment.
- Maintain consistently high expectations of all children and provide tailored support to help them succeed.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Contributing to the wider life of the school
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is already trained HLTA (or equivalent qualification)
- Has a secure subject knowledge of both EYFS/KS1 education
- Can deliver engaging lessons that inspire and motivate pupils
- Has excellent classroom management skills
- Works well as part of a team and can also work independently
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is flexible, resilient and enthusiastic about education
- Shares our high expectations for all pupils
- Has the ability to take whole class responsibility and deliver engaging, well-structured learning activities.
- Has both English and Maths qualifications to at least GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent.
