Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) 

Location: Rownhams St John's CE Primary School  

Salary: Grade D

Contract: 21.25 hours

We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team, helping to create a positive and inspiring learning environment.


The HLTA will be required to provide emergency and planned cover for classes during teachers' absences. This will include, but not limited to, staff absence for: emergency cover for sickness, meetings and professional development opportunities.


About the Role:

As our HLTA, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver high-quality lessons, often leading classes independently.

  • Provide tailored support to students, helping each child achieve their full potential.

  • Support inclusion initiatives, ensuring all children can access and benefit from our well planned curriculum.

  • Champion the school’s values of love, joy, and responsibility, fostering a positive, safe, and stimulating environment.

  • Collaborate with staff to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.


What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for an HLTA who:

  • Has proven experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, ideally with HLTA status or equivalent.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of child development and inclusive education practices.

  • Is committed to upholding our school values and vision, working towards creating a nurturing, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.

  • Can adapt lessons and activities to meet diverse student needs, supporting individual learning journeys.

  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.

  • Is flexible, positive, and professional, with high expectations for every child.
