Job Introduction
Are you an experienced teaching assistant/learning support assistant who is looking for a new opportunity? We are excited to be looking for a friendly, flexible, and professional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and welcoming team at the Federation of Fryern Infant and Junior Schools in Chandlers Ford. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on whole class responsibility across the Federation working in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 working closely with class teachers to foster independence and support children’s learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume whole class responsibility for teaching and learning (PPA / absence cover) as directed by class teachers.
- Understand that behaviour is a ‘communication of need’ and collaborate with staff to maintain high expectations and a calm, positive learning environment.
- Delivering high-quality inclusive teaching for all children.
- Maintain consistently high expectations of all children and provide tailored support to help them succeed.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Recent and relevant experience of working within a primary school
- Has an HLTA qualification (or willingness to work towards the qualification)
- A strong understanding of behaviour as communication and strategies to maintain calm and positive environments.
- Experience of supporting children with additional needs
- Ability to take whole class responsibility and deliver engaging, well-structured learning activities.
- English and Maths qualifications to at least GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent.
- Willing to undertake training in first aid and medical support if needed.
