Job Introduction

Part Time Job Share Year R Class Teacher – 1st September 2025 to 31 August 2026

We are looking to appoint a hard-working, well-organised and enthusiastic teacher to join our supportive and committed staff team in our wonderful small school in the Test Valley. This fixed-term post is based in Little Acorns, teaching our small class of Reception children, for one day a week, until the end of the 2025/2026 academic year. The post will involve sharing the class with an experienced member of staff as part of a job share.

Following a successful Ofsted inspection in March 2023, we can proudly say that Braishfield Primary School is a ‘good’ school providing engaging education for our 102 children.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong Early Years philosophy and understand how young children learn
  • Demonstrate sound experience of teaching the Early Years curriculum and the assessment requirements
  • Be a motivated and inspiring teacher who is prepared to go ‘the extra mile’ to ensure children have exciting and engaging learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom
  • Be passionate about securing excellent outcomes for all children
  • Place children’s learning at the heart of everything they do
  • Create an inspiring and purposeful learning environment and demonstrate positive strategies for behaviour management
  • Encourage children to show initiative, take risks with their learning and challenge themselves
  • Have high expectations of themselves and the children
  • Be open to developing their own practice and sharing best practice with others
  • Show resilience and have effective strategies to help manage workload
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to working closely as part of a small team
  • Have a 'can do' attitude and a great sense of humour

This post would not be suitable for an Early Career Teacher.

We can offer:

  • Happy, enthusiastic children who love learning
  • A very friendly and supportive team in which everyone is encouraged and valued
  • A commitment to provide exciting internal and external opportunities for your professional development
  • An outward-looking school, committed to sharing best practice and providing children with the very best educational experiences
  • A well-resourced school to help you deliver a broad, rich and engaging curriculum for your class
  • Regular allocated time to enable you to carry out subject leadership responsibilities
  • Active and supportive parents and governors
  • The unique experience of working in a small school with strong links with the local community
  • A culture where well-being of staff is not just supported but actively promoted

Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged. To meet Natalie Alldred, Headteacher, and to arrange a look around our lovely school, please telephone the school office on 01794 368359.
