We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, nurturing and dedicated qualified SEN teacher, who would contribute to the high standards of academic delivery at our MLD/SLD maintained special school for boys and girls aged 11-16 years. You will need to be creative, hardworking and committed to supporting pupils and families.
The Teacher of English and Literacy will be responsible for the development and delivery of the English curriculum at both KS3 and KS4. It would be advantageous for the applicant to have had experience of teaching students with MLD/SLD and particularly with teaching reading at KS2. We are looking to appoint a forward-thinking teacher who will lead on the planning, delivery and assessing of English and who will help oversee the development of literacy across the school. The successful applicant must be flexible in all aspects of their work as they may be required to teach some sessions outside their areas of specialism.
Essential qualities for all applicants include:
- Qualified teacher Status
- Experience/training in teaching English across the Key Stages
- Knowledge of special educational needs and teaching strategies appropriate for pupils with special educational needs.
- Significant emotional resilience and empathy.
- Energy, patience, enthusiasm and a sense of humour.
