Job Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, passionate and hard-working Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team in our school in the heart of beautiful Hampshire.

We are looking for someone who can help children with all aspects of their development and learning in a fun and inspiring way.

We are a warm and friendly primary school supported well by a team of committed Governors and enthusiastic PTFA. St. Matthew’s Church is only a short walk away which we visit regularly and have weekly collective worships lead by our lovely vicar in school. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful woodlands which we use for Forest School sessions and outdoor learning. 

We are looking for an LSA who:

  • has good literacy and numeracy skills including at least GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • has experience of working with primary aged children, preferably in a school setting 
  • has experience working with children with additional needs (a knowledge of Makaton / BSL is desirable but not essential)
  • enjoys working with children and have a patient and caring nature
  • is able to deliver high-quality learning experiences in line with our inclusive approach
  • is calm, positive and patient and can thrive in a lively, active learning environment
  • has an excellent understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
  • is able to work effectively as part of a successful team, show initiative and be flexible at all times
  • is enthusiastic, self-motivated and creative
  • understands that all behaviour is a form of communication and be able to demonstrate excellent behaviour management strategies
  • will model our Christian values of Friendship, Respect, Achievement and Faith
  • is a team player, able to inspire and work in partnership with staff, parents and pupils
  • has a professional approach to all aspects of school life
  • can provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils where required

The working hours are 8.30am to 3:30pm (to include break and lunch duty) 5 days a week. There will be an opportunity to extend the contract to include before and after school clubs (7:45am start, 5:30pm finish) if desired.
