The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and calm Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with specific medical needs within Key Stage 1. In this vital role, you will ensure the pupil can access the curriculum safely and confidently while fostering their independence and wellbeing.
Role Details:
Key Responsibilities
- Personalised Medical & Academic Support: Provide targeted assistance to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning, providing timely feedback to accelerate their progress.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Collaborate with class teachers to adapt high-quality KS1 learning resources that meet the pupil's specific medical and educational requirements.
- Championing Inclusion: Implement personalised strategies—such as visual timetables—that celebrate the child's strengths while ensuring their safety.
- Holistic Development: Support the pupil’s social and emotional wellbeing during structured classroom time and active playground play.
- Communication: Maintain accurate records of daily progress and medical milestones, liaising effectively with both staff and parents.
What We’re Looking For
We need a candidate with a genuine passion for inclusive education and the following qualities:
- KS1 Expertise: A strong understanding and experience of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Positive & Calm Demeanour: The ability to remain composed under pressure while using effective management strategies.
- Empathy & Initiative: A deep understanding of social and emotional development and the flexibility to support both child-initiated and teacher-led learning.
- Collaborative Spirit: A team player who builds positive relationships with children and colleagues alike.
- Qualifications: A willingness to undertake specific medical training is essential.
