Learning Support Assistant (LSA3 – D Grade) across SEMH Resourced Provision Unit and Mainstream School

About the Role

The Federation of Trosnant Schools is seeking to appoint an experienced and skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA 3) to work in our SEMH Resourced Provision and support the transition of those pupils into their mainstream classrooms.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner with strong behaviour support and inclusion experience to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, enabling them to access learning successfully within both specialist and mainstream settings.

 

The SEMH Resourced Provision has 8 commissioned places and operates within a mainstream school, providing targeted specialist support alongside carefully planned inclusion opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the support of teaching and learning under the direction of a qualified teacher
  • Deliver learning activities to individuals, groups and, where appropriate, whole classes
  • Work predominantly in the SEMH Resourced Provision and support pupils accessing mainstream lessons
  • Lead targeted interventions and structured sessions
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement using specialist strategies
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external professionals

 

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Significant experience working with children in a school setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience leading interventions or small group learning
  • Additional training in behaviour management or SEMH support
