Job/Person Summary

Learning Together with Love at the Centre

St. Michael's CE Infant School is a popular 3-form entry school.

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who is warm, caring and adaptable to support children throughout the school day, including lunchtime, who have special educational needs.

The role will include working with individuals and groups of children, motivating them to do their very best, helping them to overcome any difficulties they may be having with their learning and enabling them to achieve their next steps.

You will provide a strong role-model of spoken English for children and support them to understand new concepts and to express themselves clearly.

An important aspect of the role will be supporting children in reading groups and phonics keep-up groups, as part of our systematic, synthetic phonics programme, Little Wandle. Full training will be provided for this.

The role is fixed term whilst the supported children are at the school, but may lead to a permanent position.

Experience of working in a similar role would be ideal, however those applicants who have suitable qualities in engaging with children and the willingness to learn will be considered because in-school training is available.

We can offer you

  • delightful children who are keen to learn
  • a welcoming, supportive and experienced team of teachers and support staff
  • excellent professional development opportunities

If you

  • are positive, calm and caring in your approach to children with special educational needs
  • have Nurturing skills and the ability to be able to be supportive of the development of the child’s social and self-help skills
  • have a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
  • have the ability to work as part of a team
  • have a good sense of humour

Application Procedure

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact the school office on 01252 324300 to arrange a visit or alternatively email adminoffice@st-michaels-inf.hants.sch.uk An application pack is attached.
