                       Learning Support Assistant and Lunchtime Supervisor

 

The Butts Primary School is looking for hard-working, passionate and dedicated adult to work alongside our friendly and supportive Early Years Foundation Stage (Year R), or Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 teams team starting in April 2026.

At The Butts Primary School, we aim to secure outstanding outcomes for all of our pupils, and so are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:

  • has a passion for working with children, and helping them improve in character through developing their resilience and mindset as well as in qualification;
  • is flexible, energetic, resilient, and committed to working with all children including those who may need higher levels of support in order to learn.
  • values the importance of children learning in an outdoor environment during all seasons.
  • has the creativity to design activities for the year group to encourage this and engage children.
  • ideally has knowledge of phonics, although training can be provided.
  • knows and is interested in how children learn.
  • uses their initiative to bring the best out in children.
  • knows the importance of keeping children safe.
  • has high expectations for themselves and their pupils.
  • is a team player, able to inspire and work in partnership with staff, parents, and pupils.

Our Learning Support Assistants work in close partnership with class teachers and our Inclusion Leader (SENDCo) to promote learning for all children. Some experience of working on intervention programmes with individuals and small groups of children would be of benefit but not essential.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm (to include Lunchtime Supervisor duties).

Applicants should have:

  • Previous experience of working or volunteering in a school or nursery setting with the knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • English and Maths to GCSE Grade C

Previous experience in working in Early years would be advantageous but not essential.
