Welcome to Bidbury Infant School! We are delighted you are considering applying for a role with us.

The Learning Support Assistant role will involve working to support the class teachers in our happy Infant school, across classes from Year R through to the end of Year 2 (4 - 7 year olds) and potentially supporting children with EHCPs/SEN adjustments, as needed.

This is a permanent contract with working hours during term time - Monday to Friday, from 8:40am - 3:20pm, 39 weeks per year (including 5 x INSET days per academic year).

This post may be appointed at a Grade B or Grade C level depending on applicant experience. The FTE pay range is £24,027 - £25,430, pro-rated to £17,136 - £18,137 (with pay rise due from April 2025).

Applications will be shortlisted on a rolling basis. Therefore, this post may be closed earlier than the advertised closing date if the right applicant(s) are found.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and hard-working person, with experience of working in an education environment or with children, to join our dedicated team after Easter, in April 2025.

The successful applicant will be fully focused on and committed to the welfare, learning and growth of our children. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, will be approachable, fun, calm and understanding, and have high levels of integrity. They will also be well-organised and systematic, yet adaptable and flexible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an applicant who is keen to develop their experience and skills working with children in education - we are open to employing an inexperienced or experienced individual with ongoing professional development provided regularly within a supportive and nurturing team.

The main duties of the role include:

  • Working with individual or groups of children to assist in ensuring pupils are kept on task and complete activities set by teachers;
  • Dealing with behavioural and Special Education Needs in conjunction with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Helping the class teacher to implement class lesson plans
  • Assisting the class teacher with learning and assessment
  • Reviewing pupil progress against learning objectives in conjunction with the class teacher
  • Readiness to undertake person/intimate care for children with special educational needs (training will be provided)
  • Playtime supervision, including lunch assistance and playground cover for 30 minutes each day.

We are so proud of our children - they are engaged and keen to learn and enjoy all aspects of school life. They are well-mannered and considerate of others. Our values are more than just words and underpin everything both our school children and school staff do. We have 6 core values that are embedded throughout our curriculum: Resilience, Respect, Focus, Boundaries, Independence and Self-Regulation. We recognise and celebrate all our children and staff and appreciate that each of us are special. We encourage individuals to work hard every day to ensure our school is a place where everyone feels valued and included. We were thrilled to receive a 'Good' rating on our Ofsted inspection in November 2024, and continue to make strides in developing an outstanding education and experience for our local community.
