Learning Support Assistant with Lunchtime Duties

Job Introduction

Are you keen to have a positive influence on children’s lives? 

Are you a positive, friendly and professional person, who would like to join our team and make a difference to children’s learning? Do you have the skills to support a range of children in a class with their learning and to offer support to the class teacher? This role is class-based, for 5 mornings and one afternoon each week and includes the lunchtime supervisor role for your class each day.

We are seeking to appoint a special person who is enthusiastic, hardworking, caring and dedicated, to join us to work with a Year 1 or Year 2 class. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful and ready to learn new skills as well has having common sense and an ability to see what needs to be done. You will need the confidence to cover a class in some circumstances, but will be supported towards this during induction.

Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills along with a commitment to work as part of a team are essential. Previous experience would be an advantage; we are looking for a person who is able to build good relationships with children and who is keen to develop into the role. You will be able to positively manage behaviour and support the school’s Rights Respecting ethos. 

 We are looking for someone who:

  • is caring, calm and patient 
  • is able to work as a part of a team, learning with and from colleagues 
  • enjoys working independently and with initiative 
  • is able to work effectively with children to move their learning forward 
  • is highly organised and has good time management skills 
  • is flexible, proactive and resourceful 
  • has excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
  • is able to provide written and verbal feedback to the class teacher as required 
  • understands confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
