Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Thornden School are seeking an outstanding individual to join our friendly and experienced team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to cover maternity leave, helping inspire confidence in our students and support their learning. As students are supported in all areas of the curriculum, in both academic and practical subjects, LSAs must be prepared to work across a variety of departments and subjects.

Salary: Grade B (FTE £24,796 - £25,127)  (Actual for 28.5 hrs £16,407 - £16,626)

Hours: 28.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (08:50-14:55 (Wednesdays 08:15-14:55) Term time only (39 weeks) - we will also consider applications for other part-time working hours (please specify)

Contract: Part time, Term Time, Permanent

Responsible to: SENCO

Start date: Monday 1st June 2026 

Closing Date: Sunday 17th May 2026

Interview Date: Friday 22nd May 2026

About the role

As an LSA, you will support students in class, lead small groups and work with individuals who may have learning, physical, sensory, behaviour or communication difficulties.

  • Have a proven track record of supporting children with a variety of academic, physical, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Have a positive, caring manner, with high aspirations for the achievements of all students
