Learning Support Assistant (Full-time Fixed Term)
Key Stage 2 (Year 5/6)
Start Date: September 2026

Hours: 8:30-3.00 Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive staff team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Year 5/6 class, supporting children as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher to support learning across the curriculum, deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups, and help every child achieve their full potential.

We are looking for someone who can build positive relationships, inspire confidence and encourage independence, whilst helping to create a calm, purposeful and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of a broad and balanced Key Stage 2 curriculum. 
  • Work alongside the class teacher to support high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils. 
  • Deliver targeted interventions and provide support for individuals and small groups to help them make excellent progress. 
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional SEND needs. 
  • Promote children's independence, resilience and confidence as they prepare for secondary education. 
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • Contribute to assessment, monitoring and record keeping. 
  • Support educational visits, enrichment activities and the wider life of the school. 
  • Promote the school's Christian ethos and values through daily interactions.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with primary-aged children (Key Stage 2 experience is desirable).
  • Has an understanding of how to support children with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and high expectations for every child.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works collaboratively whilst showing initiative, flexibility and professionalism.
  • Can motivate, encourage and inspire children to become confident, independent learners.
  • Is committed to inclusion and ensuring every child achieves success.

For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity to support our Forest School Lead in delivering weekly Forest School sessions and helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence through outdoor learning. 

Salary: Grade B or C depending on experience.
