Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

We are looking for a highly motivated permanent Learning Support Assistant to work in KS2.

The hours of work are 9am - 3:20pm and include half an hour of lunch time duty.

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience of being a LSA 
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent)
  • An ability to use ICT effectively to support learning
  • Has an empathetic understanding of children’s emotions and behaviour and actively seeks to remove barriers to learning

  • Is a good communicator
  • Has an organised approach to their work
  • Uses their own initiative to ensure all learners achieve the best outcomes
  • Has a ‘can do’ attitude with high aspirations for themselves and children
  • Is resilient, flexible and resourceful

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Work 1:1 and 2:1 with SEND pupils within the classroom at key points of the day under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo
  • Assist in ensuring pupils stay on task and complete learning tasks set by teachers
  • Provide support to manage children’s social and emotional needs in conjunction with the class teacher
  • Provide feedback to pupils in conjunction with the class teacher
  • Assist the class teacher with assessment
  • Review progress of pupils
  • Plan and deliver interventions that lead to children making rapid progress
  • Have a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding practices
  • Keep accurate records
