Learning Support Assistant – Fryern Federation (Infant and Junior Schools)
Location: Chandlers Ford
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

We are looking for a friendly, flexible, and professional Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and welcoming team at The Fryern Federation of Infant and Junior Schools in Chandlers Ford. 

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with autism in a mixed Year 3/4 class.  The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the successful candidate will play a key role in helping them access learning, develop independence, build positive relationships, and thrive both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.

Working under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo, you will provide consistent, personalised support to help the child achieve the outcomes identified in their EHCP within a nurturing and inclusive school environment.

As an LSA, you will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with autism within a mixed Year 3/4 class.
  • Deliver provision in line with the child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Use TEACCH principles to support learning, including the use of a structured workstation and visual supports.
  • Adapt learning activities and classroom routines to meet the child's individual needs.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation, social interaction and successful transitions throughout the school day.
  • Deliver tailored intervention activities both within the classroom and through individual sessions.
  • Support the child's independence, confidence and engagement in all aspects of school life.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility and emotional regulation where required.
  • Record observations and contribute to regular reviews, progress monitoring and planning.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCo, external professionals and the child's family to ensure consistent and effective support.
  • Support the child during lunchtime as part of the wider pastoral care of the school.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient and committed to helping every child reach their potential.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is flexible, proactive and able to respond to the child's changing needs.
  • Has experience supporting children in an educational setting (essential).
  • Has experience of working with children with autism or additional needs (essential).
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality
  • Can use initiative and follow direction confidently
  • Can stay calm and positive under pressure
  • Holds GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above) in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
  • Is willing to undertake training in first aid and medical support if needed
