Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our team at Morelands Primary School. If you are excellent in the classroom with an ability to engage and enthuse all children we would love you to apply. We are seeking someone who can challenge, support and motivate children helping them to reach their personal targets and be the best that they can be. A good sense of humour is also essential!  The successful candidate will: 

  • Have previous successful experience of working with children with special educational needs in a primary school setting, particularly in the areas of autism and speech language and communication needs
  • Be able to plan appropriate support for a range of learning and emotional needs 
  • Be able to work independently and with initiative 
  • Demonstrate dedication, empathy and resilience 
  • Have high expectations for the progress and attainment of children with special educational needs 
  • Be able to develop pupil independence and self-help skills 
  • Have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude, working effectively as part of a team, demonstrating positivity and adaptability 
  • Have a willingness and ability to work across the whole primary phase when needed 
  • Have a willingness and ability to support a wide range of pupil needs, including medical and care needs 
  • Have excellent communication skills, relating well to children, colleagues and parents 
  • Be able to manage pupils with a calm, positive and kind approach 
  • Knowledge of or experience of using Makaton and PECs is a bonus!
