Job/Person Summary
At Sarisbury C of E Junior School we are passionate about reading and developing our school environment further to inspire children to read as much as possible. We are looking to recruit someone that can help us to do the following:
We require someone for 4 hours per day, Monday - Friday. Suggested hours are 11.30-3.30 with some flexibility.
*drive new initiatives in reading and inspire our pupils to choose a wide range of books
*maintain our library and organise pupil librarians including class book corners
*create interactive displays around the school to inspire children with their reading
*liaise with staff to link reading to all areas of the curriculum
*work with children to encourage discussion and excitement around reading.
This is a new role to Sarisbury C of E Junior School and we are looking for someone who can develop our library in line with our strategic plan to support and promote a love of reading across the school.
You will work with our reading ambassadors and student librarians, engaging the parent community through events and strategies to support at home. Developing a system where a range of reading materials suitable to children of all abilities including those with SEND needs are available and easy to access.
You will be supported by Hampshire School Library Service and we would encourage the successful candidate to explore resources available and examples of good practice from other schools and facilities.
Experience of working with children is essential . You will have good interpersonal skills and empathy with young people. We would expect you to be confident liaising with external and internal contacts. You will need to have a (level 2/C or above) in English and Maths GCSE.
