Lunchtime Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Saxon Wood School is a special school for pupils aged 2-11 with moderate to severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities and complex medical needs. 

We are looking to recruit a conscientious, enthusiastic and energetic lunchtime supervisory assistant who is calm, caring and friendly to join our team. You will need to be a good timekeeper, confident when dealing with pupils with special needs, a good communicator and be able to work well in a team.  Previous experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

The post involves: 

  • Supervision of our pupils at lunchtime, in the hall, classrooms and outside areas
  • 1:1 support for children who require help with their feeding
  • Encouraging positive play by leading a range of play activities
  • Ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of all our pupils
  • Ensuring any issues are dealt with in a positive and thoughtful manner 
  • Assisting classes with toileting before and after lunchtime has finished (moving and handling training will be fully provided).

The hours for the role are 11:30 to 1:45, Monday to Friday term time only, to start 1st September 2026. All training and support will be provided for the role.
