Information About The Post
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
Our Senior Management Team is supported by a small team of Personal Assistants (PAs), who have individual areas of responsibility while also contributing to the work of the wider team. As PA to the Deputy Principal (Welfare & Progression), you will provide a wide range of administrative and organisational support, with a particular focus on student welfare, safeguarding and progression. You will manage the Deputy Principal’s diary, coordinate meetings, respond to enquiries and liaise with internal colleagues and external agencies. You will also support safeguarding administration, maintain confidential records, take minutes at pastoral, safeguarding and disciplinary meetings, and assist with the preparation of reports and papers for Governors and the Board.
Applicants should have A levels or equivalent, excellent IT, communication and organisational skills, and experience in a busy administrative role. Experience of diary management, minute-taking and handling confidential information is essential. Experience in education or a similar environment, together with an understanding of safeguarding and data protection, would be advantageous.
You will need to demonstrate initiative, discretion and the ability to prioritise a varied workload, both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to safeguarding, student welfare and equality, diversity and inclusion is essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team, working closely with senior colleagues and contributing to the welfare, safeguarding and progression of students.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
Safer Recruitment
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
