Job Introduction
We are looking for an enthusiastic, aspirational person to join our wonderful team at Pilgrims’ Cross Primary as a part time Finance Officer for September 2025.
The post holder will work closely with our current Senior HR Officer and our Admin Team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to move into schools finance, in a caring and supportive environment. and who likes to work with a friendly and committed team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working in a school and as part of a team.
- Has excellent multi-tasking skills, alongside the ability to manage challenging situations calmly, positively and professionally in a busy environment.
- Is friendly and able to communicate effectively, warmly and professionally at all times.
- A good knowledge of finance and personnel.
- Is able to manage the school budget and provide reports for governing body meetings.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
- Has excellent literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English).
Your duties will include:
- Supporting the Headteacher in the preparation, management and monitoring of the school budget.
- Preparing regular financial reports for the Headteacher and governors.
- Effectively managing and maintaining day-to-day financial systems within the school.
- Assist with the overview of the tendering exercise and make recommendations
- Make requisitioning procedures including guidance on best value suppliers
- Produce accounts for petty cash
- Administer the unofficial funds and prepare end of year
- Liaise with other staff on financial and administrative aspects of their work
- Overseeing data protection procedures.
- Working alongside the site manager to manage the school site and building maintenance.
- Maintain and control school's inventory
