Are you enthusiastic about helping children succeed and motivated by the opportunity to support Physical Education lessons and sport across a school? We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant Level 3 or Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our warm and supportive school community, working with pupils 2 days per week or five afternoons per week to run high‑quality Physical Education lessons and sports activities, clubs and inter‑school sport events. The successful candidate will either hold relevant sports‑related qualifications and/or experience or receive appropriate training through the school to support them in the role.
Key Information
Start Date: 1st June 2026 or before where possible
Hours/Contract: 15 hours per week part time permanent position. The 15 hours can be worked over two full days or across five afternoons. This includes covering teachers’ Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) time through each week primarily covering Physical Education lessons, a 30‑minute lunchtime sports club, and two hours each week to organise and run inter‑school sports events. Term time only.

The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver high‑quality indoor and outdoor PE lessons during teachers’ PPA time, accelerating learning, promoting confidence and ensuring pupils feel safe, happy and able to thrive.
- Support positive, active play at break and lunchtime.
- Set up equipment, prepare activities and encourage pupils’ participation, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for physical activity.
- Organise and deliver school and inter‑school sports activities and events (e.g., netball, football), with flexibility regarding which sports are promoted and opportunities to support or lead others.
- Run a weekly 30‑minute lunchtime sports club of their choosing.
- Use the school’s PE Scheme of Work as the guiding framework for planning and delivery.
- Assist with sports clubs, practices and inter‑school fixtures.
- Promote positive participation, teamwork and enjoyment of sport across the school.
Qualifications and Training:
- Applicants should ideally hold a Level 2 or above qualification in Fundamental Movement Skills or other related sports area. However, for the right candidate, the school will provide training to enable the successful candidate to achieve the required qualification and to confidently support and run sports sessions and events.
