TITLE: Pre-school Deputy Manager
SALARY SCALE: £15,000 - actual
QUALIFICATION: Level 3 Childcare equivalent
HOURS OF WORK: 30 hours
RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE AS FOLLOWS:
VISION:

AIM
● To assist the Manager to provide a high quality, safe, fun learning experience for children aged between two years to five years
- To deputise for the Preschool Manager
- To assist in supervisions and appraisals as directed by the Manager
- To run the Preschool in the Manager’s absence
- To record observations and assess children using the online software
- To contribute to and implement pre-school policies and procedures
- To act as a key person for a group of up to 8 children and communicate progress on a regular basis with their parents
- To provide intimate care needs for all children
Main responsibilities are:
- To ensure that the pre-school is a safe environment for children and staff and that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high and safety procedures are implemented at all times.
- To ensure records are properly maintained, such as the daily attendance register and accident and incident forms.
- To assist with the planning of the curriculum by providing high quality, safe, creative, and appropriate educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment; preparing activities and arranging equipment, supporting the staff with this too.
- To act as a key person to a small group of children ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- To be responsible for observations and record keeping relating to the progress and development of key children.
- To communicate with parents/carers, exchanging information about their child’s progress and encouraging parental involvement through the development of effective working relationships.
- To contribute to, suggest changes and implement all pre-school policies and procedures, especially those on confidentiality and safeguarding and be familiar with statutory requirements for the pre-school.
- To promote positive management of behaviour in the setting, establish routines and boundaries to ensure the safety and good behaviour of the children.
- To attend staff meetings, parent meetings and planning sessions as required
- To promote positive values, attitudes and good child and staff behaviour, dealing promptly and effectively with conflict and incidents in line with the policies.
- To actively promote British Values.
- To assist and support children during mealtimes.
- To advise the Manager of any concerns regarding the children, parents/carers, staff/volunteers, equipment, practices etc. preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- To assist in changing nappies/toileting duties.
- Understanding and able to implement inclusive practices into the setting to ensure all children have the opportunity to learn, interact and fulfil their potential.
- To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise yourself with relevant play and learning plans.
- To administer or supervise first aid as required and appropriate.
- To work in partnership with the Preschool Manager to update and review the safeguarding evaluation and Improvement plans
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager in accordance with the pre-school.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
- Keep up to date by attending relevant training courses.
- Take any training courses deemed to be required and maintain a positive approach to continuous professional development.

The Pre-School has a strict dress code which we expect every employee to adhere to.
